Live nationwide: the smart shipping engine now accepts every New Zealand delivery address. Configured products are quoted from the complete cart using NZ Post or Mainfreight.

Original Shopify rates remain available as a fail-safe and are hidden at checkout whenever a successful Micromall smart rate is present.
Unknown SKUs, bundles and legacy products continue to fall back safely instead of receiving an invented low quote.

A shipping method without this prefix came from the original Shopify shipping setup. Listing individual order numbers here would require read-only Shopify order permission, which is not currently enabled.

Live calculation algorithm

1 · Resolve the whole cartEvery SKU must have trusted weight, dimensions and packing data. Bundles and unknown products fall back to Shopify.

2 · Choose the carrierEligible parcels use NZ Post. Oversize, freight-only products and large panel carts use Mainfreight.

3 · Build packagesNZ Post uses actual weight, volume and parcel limits. Mainfreight builds only CTN, BDL and PLT handling units.

4 · Calculate safelyDestination zone, weight tier, rural status, service type, safety margin and upward rounding produce the checkout price.

Battery-only rule

When every shippable line is a configured BTL- battery, each battery is kept as its own parcel. Mixed carts continue through the normal whole-cart packing algorithm.

The engine uses postcode-derived carrier zones and continuous curves calibrated against eShip. For each parcel, the weight component uses the higher of actual weight and volume × 200kg/m³. Lower Hutt tests also showed a separate size effect for bulky parcels, so the North Standard pricing zone compares weight and volume price components before adding the safety buffer. This is an empirical quote model, not a carrier tariff. Rural delivery adds $7.28 per parcel.

Mainfreight algorithm

The model is calibrated against all 31 current New Zealand transport locations. Batteries and inverters remain as separate cartons. Smaller accessories are combined only while the packed carton remains within 25kg and 0.1m³. Pallets add 5kg and 10cm. Each depot has its own minimum, cubic-metre and kilogram coefficients. Unknown destinations use the highest-risk lane for their island. The full consignment is priced from the highest of the lane minimum, total-volume charge and total-weight charge, followed by FAF, depot versus door allowance, GST, safety margin and upward rounding.

Important

NZ Post and Mainfreight do not provide this app with live APIs. The calculation engine is calibrated from controlled carrier tests and deliberately rounds upward. It evaluates the complete cart before returning a checkout rate.
